We sent Moses with Our signs to the Pharaoh and his nobles. He said: "I have been sent by the Lord of all the worlds." 46 But when he brought them Our tokens, behold! they laughed at them. 47 although each sign that We showed them was weightier than the preceding one: and [each time] We took them to task through suffering, so that they might return [to Us]. 48 They said, "Sorcerer, call on your Lord for us, by virtue of His pledge to you: we shall certainly accept guidance," 49 but when We relieved them of the torment, they broke their word. 50 Pharaoh called to his people, "My people, is the Kingdom of Egypt not mine? And these rivers that flow at my feet, are they not mine? Do you not see? 51 Or am I [not] better than this one who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear? 52 Why were then no bracelets of gold shed upon him from above, or angels sent down as a retinue with him?" 53 So he incited his people to levity and they obeyed him: surely they were a transgressing people. 54 So, when they had angered Us, We took vengeance on them, and We drowned them all together; 55 And We made them a thing past, and an example for those after (them). 56
