The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 Then they called their fellow, and he took the sword and hamstrung her, 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
