The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
