a good many of olden times, 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 and the shadows of black smoke 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 "You verily will eat of the trees of Zaqqum. 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 And shall be drinkers thereon of boiling water. 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 This is their reception on the Day of Justice. 56 It is We Who created you, so why do you not accept the truth? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We! it is We Who have decreed death unto you all. And We are not to be outrun. 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 [For,] were it Our will, We could indeed turn it into chaff, and you would be left to wonder [and to lament,] 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 nay, we are deprived [altogether]." 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74
