The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 arise, and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And pollution shun. 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what do you know what Hell is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
