The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 No one can avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
