The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
