The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
