The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn away from them. When on the Day the crier calls to the painful business, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
