He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but others will be gloomy 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
