The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is overthrown, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by the dawn when it breathes 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
