The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created; 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
