Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 and by parent and offspring, 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 What, does he think none has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 It is the freeing of a slave 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or to a destitute lying in dust; 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 The Fire will vault them over. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
