Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city -- 1 And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 a tongue, and two lips, 9 And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or a needy person in misery 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 with the Fire closed above them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
