Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its noon-time brightness, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 By the soul, and That which shaped it 7 and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God! 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 TO [THIS] TRUTH gave the lie, in their overweening arrogance, [the tribe of] Thamud, 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
