And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 You and your fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
