The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they differ? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
