The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
