The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
