And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
