Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 and our belief has destroyed us". 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
