Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
