The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created the human being 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 and the stars and the trees all prostrate themselves, 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 and grain in the blade, and fragrant herbs. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 In-between the twain is a barrier which they pass not. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
