Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
