The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
