Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
