ARE, THEN, they who are bent on denying the truth not aware that the heavens and the earth were [once] one single entity, which We then parted asunder? and [that] We made out of water every living thing? Will they not, then, [begin to] believe? 30 We set firm mountains upon the earth lest it should sway under them, and We placed therein passages for paths so that they might find their way. 31 And We have made the heaven a guarded canopy and (yet) they turn aside from its signs. 32 And He it is Who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all (orbs) travel along swiftly in their celestial spheres. 33 And We did not ordain abiding for any mortal before you. What! Then if you die, will they abide? 34 Every soul is going to taste of death, and We shall prove you with evil and good as a temptation; and unto Us ye shall be returned. 35 And when those who disbelieve see you, they do not take you but for one to be scoffed at: Is this he who speaks of your gods? And they are deniers at the mention of the Beneficent Allah. 36 Man is created of haste, I will show you My Ayat (torments, proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So ask Me not to hasten (them). 37 They say: "When will this promise come to pass, if ye are telling the truth?" 38 If only the Unbelievers knew (the time) when they will not be able to ward off the fire from their faces, nor yet from their backs, and (when) no help can reach them! 39 Nay, it may come to them all of a sudden and confound them: no power will they have then to avert it, nor will they (then) get respite. 40 Mocked were (many) messenger before thee; But their scoffers were hemmed in by the thing that they mocked. 41
