The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
