The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
