Whatever affliction may visit you is for what you own hands have earned; and He pardons much. 30 And ye cannot frustrate His punishment in the earth; and there is for you beside Allah neither protector nor helper. 31 And of His signs are the ships in the sea, like mountains. 32 He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He may destroy them because of that which they have earned, and He may pardon many of them. 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who avoid the heinous sins and indecencies and when they are angry forgive, 37 who obey their Lord and establish Prayer; who conduct their affairs by consultation, and spend out of what We have bestowed upon them; 38 who, when they are attacked, defend themselves. 39 Let harm be requited by an equal harm. But whoever pardons and amends will find his reward with God. He does not love the wrongdoers. 40 Yet indeed, as for any who defend themselves after having been wronged - no blame whatever attaches to them: 41 The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. 42 But he who patiently endures and forgives, that is a conduct of great resolve. 43
