The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the sun and its noon-time brightness, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
