The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Merciful One 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 Created man, 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
