The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and That which created the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects the best, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 But save him who fears 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
