The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The rebels' abode, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
