There is a sign in the dead earth for them which We quicken, and produce from it grain which they eat. 33 And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs - 34 so that they may eat its fruit, though it was not their hands that made this. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him, who created all the pairs of what the earth produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not. 36 And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! they are in the dark; 37 And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knowing. 38 And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk. 39 It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. 40 And a sign for them is that We lodged them in a laden ship, while they were in their forefathers backs. 41 And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride. 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 Unless by Our benevolence, to reap advantage for a time. 44 When it is said to them: 'Have fear of that which is before you and behind you in order that you find mercy' 45 None of the signs of their Lord ever comes to them but they turn away from it. 46 And when it is said unto them: Spend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: Shall we feed those whom Allah, if He willed, would feed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 They are awaiting only for one Cry to seize them while they are yet disputing, 49 Then they will be unable to make a will, nor shall they return to their kinsmen. 50

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
