The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 And the House frequented, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and the sea swarming, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 there is none to avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
