The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 on a great day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a written book. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
