The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A written record. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 A book inscribed, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On couches, gazing, 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
