NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 It is a warning for mankind 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and belied the Day of Recompense 46 until certainty came upon us [in death]." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
