The unbelievers say: “We shall never believe in this Qur'an, nor in any Scripture before it.” If you could only see the wrong-doers arrayed before their Lord, each bandying charges against the other. Those who were suppressed will say to those who waxed arrogant: “Had it not been for you, we would have been believers.” 31 Those who were conceited will say to those who were subdued, “Did we stop you from the guidance after it came to you? In fact you yourselves were guilty!” 32 Those who were despised say unto those who were proud: Nay but (it was your) scheming night and day, when ye commanded us to disbelieve in Allah and set up rivals unto Him. And they are filled with remorse when they behold the doom; and We place carcans on the necks of those who disbelieved. Are they requited aught save what they used to do? 33 For it has been thus whenever We sent a warner to any community. Its affluent ones said, "We reject what you have been sent with." 34 And they say: We have more wealth and children, and we shall not be punished. 35 Say: "Verily my Lord increases or restricts the provision of whosoever He will;" but most men do not understand. 36
