The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
