The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
