The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 and by Him Who created the male and the female: 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects the best, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
