He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
