Seest thou one who turns back, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 Thereafter he shall be recompensed therefor with the fullest recompense. 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 Thamud, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 He plunged the villages 53 so that there came upon them that which came. 54 About which, then, of thy Sustainer's powers canst thou [still] remain in doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
