The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
