The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the Mount; 1 And the Book written 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
