He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
