Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels shall be on the borders thereof; and on that Day eight shall bear over them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in an exalted garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
