We created man from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape; 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised. 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
