The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a Great Day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A written record, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
